It's overpriced, significantly overpriced in my opinion. But it's not too bad, the i-7's are supposed to be really fast.

But for that price, you could easily get a desktop that's top of the line if gaming is your thing. If not, I'd try this site if you're looking for good laptops.

I got my girlfriend's laptop from here and they're totally solid. Shipping might be a bitch for you though, but they do ship to Canada.

The thing is, I need to pick up a laptop because I'll be heading to Uni in the fall. So, a desktop is out of the question. However, I'd still like a machine that is capable of playing games which is why I've been looking at this machine. I'll look at the site you posted and see if there's anything worth considering over mine! :D

I dunno, I found you could make a significantly better computer for a much better price. Especially in the sale section.

I know it's an i7, but a 1.6 ghz processor, even quad core, isn't really up to par if you want to play games. Also, did you make sure to google benchmarks on the video cards? Just looking at their face stats isn't good enough.

The 5870 mobility is the best you're gonna get for a decent price.

The i7 1.6x4 is going to run smoothly in multi-threaded applications. Don't underestimate it.

Ehhh, I dunno. The CPU is the most significant investment portion of your expense. How good or bad it is defines the longevity of the computer. You can upgrade the video card or the RAM, but the CPU stays.

And a CPU like that will be significantly behind in probably two years. That's $1,600 for a few years before your computer gets beyond the point where it can be upgraded to compensate for new performance demands. If you're gonna blow that kinda money, I'd get something faster in the CPU department.

Wow, lucky you. O_O I'm getting a hp g56-108sa tomorrow. Ram is 3gb and hd is 250gb which is amazing for me. It's got a crappy intel celeron though.

It's only £349.99, and it'll be a massive improvements to the piece of junk I'm using now. This thing's got like 480mb of ram, an amd athlon 1.6ghz and a 33gb hd. It's using windows xp and has no working sound or display card. Slow as fudge, can't wait to get rid of it. I'll probs just use it for backups & archives, or a doorstop.
