Disconnected from servers - Help please

Hey, i was told to sign up to this site for some help with my ethernet connection, now i don't know whether i've posted this in the right section or not so sorry if i have.

I came here for help on how to fix my problem i'm currently with o2 broadband the all rounder, my download speed varies from 9mb-14mb and upload around .700kbs-900kbs, what happens is that i will be gaming just fine with no lag no connection problems but suddenly i will disconnect from the gaming servers, but i am allowed to join straight away, it feels to me as though my connection is lost for a split second or so which is disconnecting me, i get no prompts on my ps3 saying connection lost or anything i will remain signed in, this is really frustrating because i get into a good game and then lose all my progress.

This happens on 2 of my games i play online on PS3 (Dirt 2 & Battlefield: Bad Company 2)

I asked o2 and the customer service technician referred me to this site after trying a few things.

If anyone can help please do.

Anyway like Achilles said first establish if it happens only on the PS3, or on your PC also.

just ps3, i have my ps3 connected via ethernet and pc is connected up wireless.

i haven't noticed any problems with pc connection though, saying that i only use my pc for browsing.

If it's your PS3 only then it's most likely a hardware error.

There are a few things you could try to make sure it's not the router, first try plugging the PS3 into the modem directly and playing, if it doesn't drop then it's something to do with the PS3 connecting to the router, if it drops then it's the PS3.

Im sure PS3 can attach wirelessly too, maybe try that?

Okay here is what you do, take a hammer, smash the PS3, go to the local GAME store and buy a 360, problem solved.

i just tried to play wireless and there was a little bit of lag nothing too serious but still noticeable, id rather have it wired up though.

i also done a speedcheck on my ps3 while connected wireless it came back as around 6mb download and around 150kbs upload.

So it didn't drop while it was on wireless though?

Do one more thing, plug the LAN into your computer from the router to your computer and see if it drops.
