I'm not travelling home to use steam.

It doesnt seem worth it somehow.

Its not at the actual university, in in Halls run by the university and everyone has noticed a drop in performance - that is left. Most people have gone home for the summer.

They sent me an email yesterday telling me problem had been fixed. In actual fact the internet was turned off for four hours and nothing changed.

Well, at worse:
The school they could have turned off the ports that people use for pirating, and that effects the ports that Steam uses for validation.

Or you downloaded something or did something to your computer to close up your ports that steam uses for checking and you would have to manually open them up

That's certainly possible but conflicts with my experience.

I was thinking the same thing when I was having my problems, because my school internet wasn't working with it either. But now that it's fixed, I can log on to Steam and download stuff at school. So unless it uses different ports for updates and downloads, and the school didn't bother to figure out (or inform their students) of which was which, I don't think that's what the issue is.

Its not my end. It doesn't make sense for both my laptop and desktop to have the same problem at the same time. Why would both their ports change? I don't touch ports.

Its so frustrating.

And you have not been able to get on to steam though your laptop at some wireless point like a McDonad's or a Starbucks? Right?

Oh I haven't tried that. I could drag it to a local Wetherspoons I spose, but I'm not THAT fussed. Its just annoying. I'm sleeping on a friends floor next week and he doesnt have internet full stop.

ANYWAY it was my uni internet. I am at home now - the flat i was staying at was... not satisfactory we'll put it that way. On my home wireless network and hey look steam is back.
